DV day!

Well, it’s Distinguished Visitor day here at the pole. Senator John McCain and a bunch of other people from congress are in the air right now, flying to the pole for a whirlwind 4 hour tour. I’m starting to wish that I had purchased my souvenirs earlier, as I bet they’ll take all the good stuff. Beyond souvenir purchasing, it means everyone has spent a lot of time cleaning everything. I spent two hours on Bathrooms yesterday.. fun fun fun.. They’ll take a tour of the new station, IceCube and some of the other science projects around the station. Hopefully we can wow them.

I was told to turn on my muon tagger, with it’s blinky lights and such, so it’s sitting in the lab silently taking data that I’ll never look at. Don’t tell them that though.

In the mean time, I should get some more work done (more about what I’ve been working on later).

Happy New Year, Jon! We are at Kath’s celebrating Christmas and missing those who aren’t here. Hardly any snow left. I’m proud you cleaned bathrooms. I’ll remember that next time you get to Old Mill Run. Glad you are enjoying almost all that you are doing! Take care and safe travels!!

Jon, Jon, Jon!!! I’m so happy for you! Way to go–now on your second trip. You are something else. I missed meeting your girl at Thanksgiving–heard she is an absolute doll! Hope you are staying warm. Send some of that snow our way. I’m sure you could figure out a way. I want to get in some CC skiing before heading back to school. We miss you Jon! God Bless, Anna

Jon~I didn’t get to write yesterday as I was busy carrying out your Dad and Mom’s every whim…you know how needy they are! LOL It wasn’t the same without you or Laura (too quiet without our Laura you know:) We had a nice day, went to see Drew’s concert….Emily and I were left behind as we were parked in, so the mother and sister of the bass boy hoofed it to the h.s. They won’t forget this soon! Your mom was the only one who thought she should call us, the rest were seated and ready for the show with little thought to the hostesses! ….. The t-shirt exchange turned out quite fun, but again we missed you buddy. But you are busy with things I am sure I will never comprehend….I will just go on telling people I tutored beginning physics (20 years ago by the way) I am quite sure it hasn’t changed much and I could be your stand in for the ice cube project !!
YES, I echo Anna, you should have the knowledge and influence to send us some snow….we have none anylonger! Well, I suppose I should back to work~but I think of you everyday and love you very much! ooooo, Aunt Kathy
